Some images illustrate the use of antique medicines, naturopathic remedies, colorful elixirs and a wide array of professional tools. “They are artistic, historical images relating to the science of ‘apothecary’ and the health care field, in general”, says Founder Philip McCarthy.

McCarthy started collecting pharmacy and medical antiques 20 years ago with the help of pharmacists, friends and relatives involved in the pharmaceutical and medical professions. As he built up an inventory of rare items, he wanted to share his appreciation for the history of pharmacy and medicine with the very professionals in these fields. Things expanded rather rapidly to fill the gap in other health care fields.

“After receiving many compliments on my collection, I knew these items should be photographed and shared,” McCarthy explains, “and I sought out the best photographers to develop a series of high quality images. I subsequently felt the need to expand our offerings.”

The company currently offers a selection of over 170 prints ranging from 16 x 20 to 24 x 30 inches to any custom size. Colors, tones and contrasts remain crisp; so the images can be enlarged without compromising their quality. The images are sold framed complete with rebate border and glass or simply plaque-mounted.
